Yolanda Hadid is battling overcoming depression and Lyme disease.
The former ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star has returned to Instagram after a nine-month “social media detox” and admitted that the loss of her beloved mother Ans van den Heerik in August 2019 affected her health.
She wrote: “Time to reevaluate my life, coming back from a 9 month social media hiatus.
“I really struggled with depression after I lost my mom and then had Lyme relapse….
“Emotional stress and grief took a toll on my immune system. (sic)”
And Yolanda admitted that she found her “phone addiction” was causing problems in her real life and fears it’s a widespread issue that is contributing to loneliness in society.
She continued: “My phone addiction didn’t help either, it started taking so long from being present in my life.
“It’s so easy to get lost in the stories of others while forgetting to live and love yourself.
“It’s so much easier to pick up the phone and send a message than to call someone. We are all guilty of that.
“I realized that we are slowly starting to lose the art of communication and that it is creating a deep loneliness within us.
“Remember the good old times of pagers and flip phones.
“A tool that hurts your eyes and often isn’t motivated to call people without the constant pressure of scrolling through email, text and social media for several hours. (sic)”
The 58-year-old star lauded an “amazing reset” break on her social media, but admitted she is “excited” to be back online and interacting with fans once again.
She concluded: “It’s been an amazing reset anyway, time to break the habit of picking up my phone 50 times a day.
“Learning to focus on myself, my health journey and being present in this moment of my life.
“Time has slowed down and feels a lot quieter, more time to just sit down and actually read a book, time to reconnect with people, be creative and most importantly, time with my family.
“I’m excited to be back and see what you all are up to too. (sic)”
