Actor JD Chakraborty went down memory lane as he reminisced the time he worked in the titular role in Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya. From Shah Rukh Khan’s anonymous phone call the evening before Satya’s release, tricking Tabu into thinking he is dead, the actor who plays Satya in the film reveals some untold stories.
Speaking to ETimes, JD Chakraborty recalled the time when Shah Rukh Khan called him on Mani Ratnam’s phone and asked him anonymously without introducing himself, “If ‘Satya’ is to be a disaster, what do you have to do? What do you think we should do?” He asked.
Angry JD Chakraborty asked who was calling and when informed it was Shahrukh, said I can’t be as talented and intelligent as you, why don’t you tell me what we should do if ‘Truth’ becomes one Need disaster. Shah Rukh replied, “It’s easy. Replace Satya’s JD Chakraborty with me. If you cast me, I’ll do one two for the film.”
JD realized that Shahrukh was joking. After this the superstar praised JD Chakraborty and the film.
He also revealed that Tabu thought he was actually dead after watching the film. The actor said, “Tabu has seen the film and she was crying thinking that I am really dead.” The actor also recalled the time when his crew advised him not to show the film to his mother as no mother can watch her son die in the realistic way the film was shot.
Satya turned 22 this month. The film, which also starred Manoj Bajpayee and Urmila Matondkar, won several awards, including six Filmfare Awards and a National Award.
