In Friday night’s win over the Rangers, the Guardians put on a clinch what their “brand” of baseball was. He did not have a single home run yet scored six runs in a convincing victory.
So what is the Guardians’ “brand” of baseball? The sixth innings was a perfect example of what it meant to play his style and how effective it could be.
It’s all about being on base, making contact, and then running smart and aggressive. For example, Josh Naylor RBI double and Will Brennan base hit who scored Oscar Gonzalez And andres giménez,
At times runners have gone from first to third or scored in singles, so the Guardian has also put itself in a great position. It has happened 103 times this season, the most in baseball.
The Chicago Cubs are in second place with 98 times and the Colorado Rockies are just behind them on 96.
The Guardians never take the play-offs when running base and this has proved to be a big reason for their success this year.
Another example of what it means to play Guardian Baseball is base theft, which we also saw on Friday night.
At the top of the fourth innings, Naylor took the second wicket and the ball was barely off shortstop and started rolling. Amade Rosario noticed this and immediately left for home to bring the parents on board.
Small plays like this have a huge impact on the game and all it takes is a little movement and heart.
