Charlottesville, Va. Sarah Bradford of Virginia won the gold medal at the 2022 World Rowing Under-19 Championships in Varese, Italy on Sunday (July 31).
Bradford was part of eight women from the United States who defeated Great Britain (6:14.57) with a world best championship time of 6:12.16 for the gold medal. Germany won the bronze medal with a time of 6:15.05.
“Great race by USA U19 Eight to win gold medal with Sarah Bradford.” UVA head coach Kevin Sawyer said.
Elsa Hartmann and the United States women’s four finished fourth with a time of 6:42.23, behind Italy (6:32.76), Romania (6:33.63) and France (6:35.64).
Cillian Mullen also finished fourth in the women’s category for the United States. Mullen and the Americans posted a time of 6:35.79. Romania won the event in 6:29.50, followed by Germany (6:32.53) and Great Britain (6:33.54).
Riley Richardson finished 10th in the women’s four for Canada.
Also, Kevin Sawyer of Virginia helped the United States clinch a gold medal in the women’s eight at the World Rowing U23 Championships on Saturday (July 30).
