‘The Sandman’: Meet the Key Players of the Netflix Adaptation | Entertainment News

Many have tried Neil Gaiman’s 1989–96 dark fantasy comic book series set in a universe where mythology, gods and nightmares collide. Now, finally, comes a gorgeous and surreal adaptation.

Here are some of Netflix’s major players the Sandman,

Morpheus (Tom Sturridge)

Also known as the Dream, he controls everything outside of reality and is one of the seven powerful beings called the Endless. In the opener, he is imprisoned for 100 years by a tantrik (Charles Dance)—but not for long.

Lucifer Morningstar (Gwendoline Christie)

The inspiration for Tom Ellis’s demonic role lucifer, this fallen angel oversees Hell. In the hands of Christie (game of Thrones), however, she looks more chilling than cheeky.

Johanna Constantine (Jenna Coleman)

Exorcist John Constantine’s ancestor, Johanna (along with Morpheus of Top, Sturridge) is an undercover detective who mysteriously factors into different time periods.

Mervyn Pumpkinhead (Mark Hamill)

star wars The icon voices the gourd-headed janitor, while Patton Oswalt (ap bio) acts as messenger Matthew the Raven. In addition, Vivienne Achempong (One) shines as chief librarian of Morpheus’s realm, The Dreaming.
