The sports world lost an all-time figure on Tuesday evening.
One of the greatest announcers in sports history, Vin Scully has passed away. He was 94 years old.
The Dodgers’ voice served baseball for decades, becoming one of the most beloved figures in all sports. If everyone in the game was given an approval rating, you’d have a hard time finding someone with a higher rating than Scully.
The Dodgers announced the sad news Tuesday night.
Tributes have started pouring in for the veteran broadcasting figure.
“It’s a disastrous, devastating day for the city of Los Angeles and the world. Vin Scully was the greatest broadcaster of all time. And he was as kind in real life as he was on the air. My thoughts are with his family and everyone who loved him,” wrote baseball writer Molly Knight.
“Vin Scully was an incredible broadcaster for decades and an amazing man too. The sports world will never see another like him,” wrote one fan.
“You can’t tell the story of baseball without Vin Scully. And no one ever told the story of baseball better than Vin Scully,” wrote another fan.
ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit shared a tribute of his own.
“An absolute legend has passed away at the age of 94. He will be remembered by many as one of the best people to ever do it. Known for calling his 67 years the Dodgers game , but I miss him on NBC as well as calling the game. Week and several World Series games. RIP to a legend,” he wrote.
Our condolences are with the friends and family members of Vin Scully during this difficult time.
May he rest in peace.
