Volatility in the forex market will remain on investors’ radar after the rupee’s biggest gain since the rupee closed at 79.25 on Friday.
Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty jumped nearly three per cent last week – a second straight weekly gain. Globally, rate hikes on expected lines in the US and remarks from the Fed sent positive signals to equity markets.
IT Financial and Metal stocks were the top gainers for the headline index.
A total of 38 stocks in the Nifty 50 basket saw weekly gains.
Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, SBI Life, IndusInd and Asian Paints were also among the top gainers.
Broader markets also strengthened for the week.

Analysts see the next target for Nifty 50 at 17,400, when the bulls took a decisive break above 16,800.
“All sectors are contributing to this move. We believe the focus should still be on the top performers instead of expecting a change in the beaten names. We are in Auto, FMCG, Banking and Financial. and remain selective in other sectors,” said Ajit Mishra, VP-Research, Religare Broking.
He said participants can explore buying opportunities on dips.
