Prithviraj’s Therappu gets release date

Malayalam actor Prithviraj is all set to dominate the ticket windows in and around Onam holidays. The release date of his upcoming film Therappu was announced on Wednesday. The film will hit the theaters on August 25, just a week before his much-awaited film Gold, which is scheduled to hit the theaters in the first week of September.

Therappu is directed by Kammara Sambhavam fame Ratish Ambat, from a script penned by Murali Gopi. The teaser suggested that the film is likely to be a dialogue-heavy drama that explores themes of revenge and justice. The film seems to focus on the clash of ideas and ideologies. The latest poster of the film is designed like a game of snakes and ladders, in which the main characters of the film are paired with historical figures like Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Hitler, Joseph Stalin and so on.

Therappu also stars Indrajit Sukumaran, Siddiqui, Saiju Kurup, Vijay Babu, Isha Talwar and Hanna Reji Koshy.

Apart from playing an important role, Vijay Babu has also bankrolled the film under his home production banner Friday Film House. Significantly, the actor-producer recently came into the limelight after he was accused of rape. A young actor accused Babu of sexually harassing him several times on the pretext of offering him roles in films. He was arrested and later released on bail.

Prithviraj Gold, written and directed by Alphons Puthren, will hit the theaters just in time for the Onam celebrations. The film, starring Nayanthara in the lead, marks the return of Puthren after a gap of seven years.
