Two men and a woman are facing charges in connection with an investigation into the possession of a vehicle that was stolen back in mid-July and recovered only last weekend. The recovery of the vehicle led to the discovery of a sawed-off shotgun and a number of charges for a suspect.
On July 15, 2022, police received a report from a vehicle owner stating that his 2006 Chew Impala had been stolen. Two weeks later, on July 30, 2022, a member of the canine unit noticed a suspiciously driving vehicle. The driver was actively trying to avoid being chased by the police vehicle. An examination of the license plate revealed that the plate had been stolen, and the vehicle was a gray Impala, matching the description of the stolen vehicle in mid-July. Members of the Stollen Auto Unit took over the investigation and arrested three individuals in the 200 block of Albert Street North. A search of the stolen vehicle found a sawed-off shotgun and another stolen license plate. The three accused are accused of taking possession of the stolen car. A 31-year-old male was charged with wielding a gun.
Thirty-one-year-old Axel Tyler Mahingen, and 37-year-old Kevin Frank Severright, both of Regina, as well as Laura Agnes Runes, 35, of the Indian premier, have been jointly charged with possession of property obtained by felony under $5,000. (vehicle), S. 355 (b) cc.
In addition, Axyl MAHINGEN has been accused of:
- 2X possession of property obtained by offense under $5,000 (license plate), s. 355 (b) cc;
- The operation of a vehicle when prohibited, s. 320.18(1)(a) CC;
- Contrary to Order 6 X Possession of a shotgun or ammunition, s. 117.01(1) cc;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm, s. 91(1) cc;
- Possession of a firearm Knowing that its possession is unauthorized, s. 92(1) cc;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, s. 94(1) cc;
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, s. 95(1)(b) CC; And
- Possession of a firearm obtained by offence, s. 96(1) cc.
MAHINGEN and SEVERIGHT made their first court appearance on their charges in the provincial court on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 9:30 am. RUNNS was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
