Omar Lulu reveals that he wrote ‘Nalla Samayam’ keeping Mohanlal in mind. Entertainment News

Filmmaker Omar Lulu has revealed in a social media post how Irshad played a soulful role which was originally written for screen icon Mohanlal in his upcoming film ‘Nalla Samayam’.

“Swaminathan aka Swamiyettan, a simple person from Thrissur, is the protagonist in my next film ‘Nalla Samayam’. I wrote the film keeping Mohanlal in mind. However, I had to think of casting another actor because It is quite difficult to reach Mohanlal. The story takes place in Thrissur; hence, I wanted someone who could speak Thrissur slang perfectly.

So I decided to give the role of Swamiyettan to Irshad, a resident of Thrissur. After hearing the story, Irshad told me that he liked it. However, she doubted whether the audience would like her in a romantic avatar, a song and dance routine with the four heroines. I assured him that this character suits him perfectly and it will add an advantage to his career. If it doesn’t, then all that is going to happen is some trolls who make fun of him. I inspired them by saying that only those who are willing to fail will succeed and those who take risks achieve their dreams. Irshad trusted me and agreed to do the role. I believe he has done a wonderful job. I hope this film brings a good time for all of us,” said Omar.

Irshad plays the lead role in the film, directed by Kalantur for the banner of Kalantoor Productions. Apart from this, Nulunda Vijesh, who has made Malayali audience laugh in many films, will also play an important role. The film will feature five new faces in the lead roles. Shalu Rahim, Shivaji Guruvayoor and Jayaraj Warrier appear in supporting roles.
