Noted Telugu actor and late TDP founder and former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao (NTR) daughter Uma Maheshwari died allegedly by suicide at her residence here on Monday.
She was 57 years old.
The police, citing preliminary investigation, said that poor health and depression are believed to be the reasons for taking this step.
However, the observations were not conclusive, he said.
A police officer told PTI that Uma Maheshwari’s younger daughter, son-in-law and a female relative broke into the bedroom door, which was locked from inside, without a response from her.
They found him hanging from the ceiling fan, he said.
A case under section 174 of CrPC (suicide) has been registered at Jubilee Hills police station, the body has been sent for post-mortem, police said.
Uma Maheshwari lives with her husband, who is away in an apartment in the city’s posh Jubilee Hills.
Her younger daughter, who lives in the city, had come to her house with her husband on Sunday.
TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, NTR’s son-in-law, Naidu’s son Lokesh, NTR’s son and veteran Telugu hero N Balakrishna and other family members visited the deceased’s residence.
