West Ham have completed the signing of Burnley winger Maxwell Cornet for £17.5m.
The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract with a further one-year option and will wear the No. 14 shirt for the Hammers.
Cornet completed his medical on Friday before finalizing personal terms and David Moyes was followed by Gianluca Scamaca (£35.5m), Nayef Aguiard (£30m), Alphonse Areola (£10.5m) and Flynn Downs (£12m). became the player to sign in the fifth major of the summer.
Initially, it was thought that West Ham’s priority was a loan, but the club was prepared to meet Cornet’s release clause.
He added, “Joining this big club is a new step for me and I am really happy to be here to be a part of the project for the club. I am excited to start this.”
“Everyone knows the standard here in the Premier League is very high and I want to play for him here, so I am really happy to be here for the next phase of my career.
“It would be amazing to play in front of 62,500 fans at London Stadium. I played here for Burnley last season and I can’t wait to experience it as a West Ham player.”
Cornet shone despite his relegation to Burnley last season, scoring nine goals and contributing an assist in 26 appearances.

“He made a big impact with his performances for Burnley last season and he has impressed me with his desire to further improve and challenge myself at West Ham.

Will Cornet play against Man City?
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth:
“We do not believe that the cornet was registered before noon [on Friday] So it is unlikely he will play for West Ham against Manchester City super sunday,
“His first appearance is likely at Nottingham Forest next weekend.”
