Drishyam Films has announced its upcoming film Siya, starring Pooja Pandey and Vineet Kumar Singh in lead roles. The film tells the story of a small town girl who, against all odds, decides to fight the oppressive patriarchy and sets out in search of justice.
The makers of Siya, directed by Manish Mundra, shared the poster of the film on Tuesday. The poster itself promises a tough social drama. Mundra said in a statement that the film will explore the hypocrisy behind the crimes that women are forced to endure. He said, “The number of these crimes is staggering and is increasing with every passing day. We hope to empower women with this film to stand up and have their say. We hope that The audience will understand the relevance of our film and talk about it.

Talking about her role in Siya, Pooja Pandey said, “This role and character honestly takes away a lot from you emotionally and physically. I was impressed with the script and knew it was a story worth telling. Her co-star Vineet Kumar Singh says though the film is based in India, it has a global appeal as the concern is ‘global’.
Siya is produced by Drishyam Films, who have done films like Bankroll Masaan and Newton. The film will be released nationwide on 16 September 2022.
