The victim said that he had asked the auto-rickshaw driver to drop him near Dhandari Chowk, but the accused went towards Jaspal Bhangar in Ludhiana. After this the accused took her to a secluded place where he along with his accomplice attacked her and robbed her.
Police on Saturday arrested an auto-rickshaw driver and his accomplice for robbing a passenger and recovered cash and a screwdriver from them with which they used to attack the victim. The police have also confiscated the auto rickshaw.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vishal, a resident of Harkishan Nagar in New Shimlapuri, Sunny Kumar, a resident of Gurunanak Nagar, Daba. His accomplice has been identified as Sandeep Kumar alias Soni, a resident of Basant Nagar in New Shimlapuri, whose arrest is yet to come.
Inspector Amandeep Singh, SHO of Sahnewal police station said, “The incident took place on the night of July 22 on Jaspal Bhangar Road when the victim Tejpal Singh, a resident of Ishwar Colony, boarded an auto rickshaw from the railway station to reach his home.”
Tejpal said that he had asked the auto-rickshaw driver to drop him near Dhandari Chowk, but accused Jaspal went towards Bhangar.
Tejpal said that the accused stopped the vehicle at a secluded place, where he along with his accomplice attacked it and then snatched the cash and documents kept in his bag.
The inspector said that after investigating the matter, the police traced the two accused and arrested them.
