Lizzo has announced that she is “in love” with her comedian boyfriend, Maike Wright.
The pop star was first linked maiden late last year when they were spotted having dinner together one night in Los Angeles, but didn’t go public with the romance until April when she confirmed they were dating. When asked about their relationship, Lizzo admitted that it’s getting serious, saying: “Well, I’m in love.”
The ‘About Damn Time’ singer — whose real name is Melissa Jefferson — shared her boyfriend’s sweet nickname for him, saying: “He has his own name for me; he calls me Mellie. He’s creative.”
Confirming the romance earlier this year, Lizzo revealed little about her man when they were seen having dinner together for Valentine’s Day in February.
During an appearance on the SiriusXM show ‘Andy Cohen Live’, the host told her: “You were photographed with a mystery man at Craig’s (restaurant in Los Angeles) in LA in February. Are you guys still together? ” Lizzo laughed again before answering: “Yeah, whatever, yes.”
He insisted that their fame didn’t affect the romance, adding: “If you have the right person, no, absolutely not. It should be mutually supportive no matter what that person does.”
It is later revealed that Lizzo and Maikey have known each other for years as they previously worked together as co-hosts of MTV’s musical series “Wonderland” in 2016.
Since confirming the romance, the pair have attended several events, including their first red carpet appearance in June for the launch of Lizzo’s Amazon Prime series “Watch Out for the Big Girls.”
