Abudantia Entertainment on Tuesday announced the Hindi language remake of the popular Israeli series The Hood. According to a press release, Israeli media company Anani Studios, which is a part of Paramount Global, has signed a deal with Abudantia to develop an Indian adaptation.

The production banner’s youth-adult content vertical, Filters, will produce the teen drama series.

The original show, which was titled Shuchuna in Israel, was produced by Giora Chamizar. The plot follows the children of a small slum located in the center of a wealthy settlement and explores the differences and problems between the poor and the rich.

“It is an honor to partner with creative powerhouses like Anni Studios and I am excited to develop the very popular and successful The Hood in an Indian avatar for the local audience.

“The collaboration with Anni Studios underscores our vision of partnering with top quality global creators to bring impactful stories and unique storytelling voices to progressive Indian audiences. I am excited to add to our slate of content for the rapidly growing youth and young adult segments, said Vikram Malhotra, Founder and CEO, Abudantia in a statement.

Orly Atlas Katz, CEO of Anani, EVP Paramount Israel, said the company is looking forward to the Indian adaptation of The Hood, which was one of Israel’s most successful and favorite teen dramas.

“(We) are confident that, with a rapidly growing slate of hits, Abudantia is the perfect production company to turn Hood into a huge hit in India as well. The Hood joins the list of Anani Studios titles that have hit the screens worldwide. We have reached audiences across the globe and we are thrilled to bring our content to Asia with this deal as well,” she said.

Abudantia recently launched two new verticals – Psych and Filters – to focus on segments and styles with high growth and high potential.

Under the Filters label, the production banner is also working on an Indian adaptation of the Israeli young-adult drama The Missing and Along Came a Spider, based on writer Apeksha Rao’s young-adult book of the same title.

Upcoming titles from the production banner include Hush Hush, a series starring Juhi Chawla and the debut of Akshay Kumar’s OTT show The End.
