Last week, as the country celebrated the WAFCON winners, Brand South Africa in association with gsport hosted a business breakfast at the Imperial Wanderers Stadium, Sandton, to launch its annual awards. Momentum GSport Awards are the premier national women’s sports recognition platform. More than 200 winners have been awarded since inception.

The purpose of the breakfast session was to discuss the importance of supporting and recognizing women in sports in South Africa, as well as the role and importance of corporate investment in advancing women’s sports.

The breakfast was attended by prominent women’s sports people from around South Africa, including the Banyan team, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Coach of the Year Desiree Ellis, South African wheelchair tennis player Kogothatso Montjane and South African swimmer Natalie du Toit .

“Our women’s sport needs its own business structure to ensure sustainable growth,” said Kas Naidu, founder of Momentum GSports.

More than 20 prestigious awards will be presented in the 17th edition of the awards on 14 September 2022, completing 16 years of the launch of the initiative.

Brand South Africa appreciates Banyan for playing its role in flying the flag for South Africa and for being a role model to the young generation of young girls to reach their dreams.
