Giants head coach Brian Dabolo Has been confirmed New York’s biggest fear. Wideout Sterling Shepard did, in fact, suffer a season-ending ACL tear in Monday’s 23-16 loss to the Cowboys. The Giants’ final offensive of the game resulted in injury: Dallas cornerback Trayvon Diggs stopped Daniel Jones after a fall to David Sills V, and the Cowboys’ offense knocked out the rest of the clock. On the other side of the field, Shepard suddenly grabbed onto his knee and pulled over before falling to the turf.
After the game, Giants coach Brian Dabol said the injury “didn’t look good” and said Shepard was likely to be missing for the rest of the season. Via trentonian, That fear has now come true.
“He is a big part of this team,” Dabol said on Tuesday.
shepard Tore his Achilles in week 15 of the 2021 season, also against the Cowboys, and made an impressive recovery to prepare for Week 1 of this season. He currently leads the Giants with 154 receiving yards and is the only Giants wide receiver with a touchdown—a 65-yarder against the Titans in Week 1. The only other legendary players to have received a touchdown this season are tight ends Daniel Bellinger and Chris Myrick.

This is another hard blow for veterans receiving the Corps who really can’t stand it. Kadarius Toni, the 2021 first-round pick, was inactive on Monday with a hamstring injury and has two receptions for zero yards this season. Vandell Robinson, the 2022 second-round pick, was also inactive with a knee injury. Kenny Gollade, Joe publicly expressed his disappointment over the lack of playing time last weekThere was no catch on Monday and there was a significant drop.
The only remaining wide receivers on the active roster are Sills V, Richie James and Darius Slayton, who have not had a catch this season.
Injury bug continues for Shepard. He hasn’t played a full season since 2018 and has struggled with injuries since the start of his NFL career in 2016, including calf, quadriceps and hamstring issues as well as concussions.
