Faber to Wear ‘C’ for Team USA

Minneapolis – University of Minnesota Junior brock faber He has been named captain for the 2022 US National Junior Team ahead of the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championships, USA Hockey announced on Friday.

Faber, who helped the United States win a gold medal at the event last year, was named an alternate captain in December before the event was cancelled. The defenseman will also wear the ‘C’ for Minnesota during the 2022-23 season.

A product of the United States Hockey National Team Development Program, Faber is no stranger to donning red, white, and blue. In addition to representing the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics, Maple Grove, Minn., contributed five points during the gold medal run at the World Junior Championships last year. Last season with the Gophers, the defenseman was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-American selection with 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) from 32 games.

Gopher hockey has a proud history at the World Junior Championships, representing the University of Minnesota in 43 of the 46 events of the inaugural tournament in 1977. USA Hockey has earned 13 medals out of five gold medals (including 2004) at the World Junior Championships. , 2010, 2013, 2017, 2021).

The full Team USA roster will be unveiled on Sunday, August 7, with the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships beginning August 9 and running through August 20, 2022 in Edmonton, Alberta.
