demolition contractor acquired machinery company

Demolition specialist John F Hunt Group has bought Morris Machinery in a deal in Japan in which it acquired the latter’s exclusive rights to sell Danyo products in the UK.

The company said it had made the purchase from the Morris family for an undisclosed amount, although chief executive Chris Morris would remain.

All employees will be retained, but the business will be relocated to Shrewsbury, Shropshire after the acquisition.

David Hunt, managing director of John F. Hunt Power, said: “It was a natural fit for us to further diversify the business. Many consider Danyo to be the Rolls-Royce of the generator industry.”

Hunt said the deal would provide exclusive access to Danyo’s research and development work on hydrogen-fuel cells and dual-fuel power systems.

The company plans to expand Morris Machinery’s generator business with solar and hydrogen-powered options.

John F. Hunt was among several companies that admitted to engaging in bid rigging after an investigation into demolition tenders by the Competition and Markets Authority.
