David Pruton’s Sky Bet Championship Predictions | football news

David Pruton Who is tipping for victory in the opening weekend of the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship season? Know here…

Blackburn v QPR, Saturday at 3 pm

Both of these teams were right in the promotion mix in the final few months of last season, but their momentum slowed at a terrifying time, meaning neither were able to eventually make the top six. Blackburn had a very hard time, especially in the second half of the campaign.

It’s hard to call it that because in Jon Dahl Tomson and Michael Biel, both sides have new men with fresh ideas. However, it can make for an entertaining afternoon if they continue to employ attacking styles. So I am going for a goal-laden draw.

Pratton predicts: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds)

Cardiff v Norwich, Saturday at 3 pm

Cardiff boss Steve Morrison has been given plenty of room to maneuver in this summer’s transfer window and has brought in 10 players as a result, of whom only two have ordered transfer fees. I’m really curious about how the Bluebirds are going to proceed with Morrison in charge of his first full season.

Meanwhile, Norwich have looked pretty quick in the pre-season and have prioritized attacking reinforcements with Isaac Hayden and Gabriel Sarah sure to provide them with a fresh look going forward. I have to say I can’t look past Cardiff for this, although it may well be tight.

Pratton predicts: 2-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Middlesbrough vs West Brom, Saturday at 5.30 pm – LIVE ON sky sports football

Now, this could be a really good game between two sides who would be willing to challenge for promotion again.

Middlesbrough missed the play-off spot by just five points after Chris Wilder’s defense campaign, while West Brom faltered in the first few months of the previous stint to finish in a disappointing 10th place – their lowest final position in two decades. . The pair have points to prove and I think it could be an entertaining score draw.

Sunderland v Coventry, Sunday at 12PM – LIVE ON sky sports football

Welcome back, Sunderland! The Black Cats have been away from the championship for four years and will be welcomed back this season. I really liked the way Alex Neal propelled them towards the end of the term and, although this split is a different animal, they are no strangers to it and will fight to stay here.

Coventry looked like surprising play-off contenders for the first half of last season, which was actually encouraging to watch. However, their dissonance ended after that, and they immediately fell, which Mark Robbins would have been working to avoid going forward. On this occasion, I am here in support of Sunderland.

Pratton predicts: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds)

Watford vs Sheffield United, Monday 8 PM – LIVE ON sky sports football

Rob Edwards to be head coach of Watford from 2022/23 season

The weekend ends with a clash between two other teams, who will surely be challenging at the top of the division. It is a championship managerial bow in front of a bumper Vicarage Road crowd for Rob Edwards, Watford’s fourth manager since the start of the previous stint.

Sheffield United were defeated for the final time in the play-offs after excellent work from Paul Heckingbottom, who took over after a mediocre start for the Blades under Slavisa Djokanovic. They would like to have a good start under the lights and I think it could be another cracker.
