Hilton Head Island
Experience gorgeous sunsets and Southern hospitality at Hilton Head Island, located in South Carolina. Whether you’re staying on a vacation rental or a hotel like Sea Pines Resort, there’s plenty to do on the island. Visitors can stroll or pedal along the beaches, watch dolphins on a cruise, and discover fresh flowers at the island’s weekly farmers market. In a sporty mood? Run for the Cape in Massachusetts. History-loving visitors can come to the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum in Hyannis and satisfy their sweet tooth with a soft serve at Osterville’s The Salty Cow. In the Outer Cape, coastal grandmothers can sip wine at Tru Vineyards, go whale watching with Captain John Boats, or wear proper footwear and walk the Provincetown Causeway.

Nantucket
Fly or take a ferry to Nantucket, a charming island off Cape Cod. Admire the waterfront homes and stunning gardens (worthy of a Nancy Meyers movie) on the ‘Sconset Bluff Walk’, or visit Nantucket’s lighthouses—Sankty Lighthouse, Brent Point Lighthouse and Great Point Lighthouse—and the Whaling Museum. On a hot day, cool off with ice cream from The Juice Bar, or visit Cisco Brewers for a drink. While in town, a must-have lobster roll!
Martha’s Vineyard

South of Cape Cod is another Massachusetts island, Martha’s Vineyard, which is accessible by ferry or plane. The Obama family vacation destination is home to six cities (Aquina, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and West Tisbury) and beautiful beaches, not to mention the famous jaw Bridge. Walk around Oak Bluffs’ colorful gingerbread cottages, relax in Ocean Park, or visit the island’s five lighthouses and the breathtaking Aquina Cliffs.

The Hamptons
If you want to totally channel Erica Barry, look no further than the Hamptons. The popular New York vacation destination is where Keaton’s character’s beach house was located something’s Gotta Give, Read a book or take a walk in the sand (ए la Keaton and Jack Nicholson) at Cooper Beach in Southampton. Art lovers can visit the Parish Art Museum at Water Mill. Coastal grandmothers looking to enjoy an afternoon of wine and bites will want to swing by the Wolfer Estate Vineyards in Sagaponack. While east, you can visit the “end of the world” aka Montauk, where visitors can experience the Montauk Salt Cave and see the Montauk Point Lighthouse.
newport
You don’t have to be a guest at Newport’s Castle Hill Inn (though we certainly wouldn’t mind!) to have a glass of wine while taking in the ocean views in an Adirondack chair. Coastal grandmothers visiting the city in Rhode Island can book a cruise on the aptly named Coastal Queen ship.
Back on the ground, the picturesque Blue Garden is open every Thursday from June 9 to October 6, 2022 (though a $15 reservation is required). If tennis is your sport of choice, you’re in luck because Newport is where the International Tennis Hall of Fame is located, and it offers tennis on grass courts and croquet to the public.
kennebunkport
Maine has many coastal towns like Camden and Bar Harbor where you can make your coastal grandmother’s dreams come true. Kennebunkport is one of those cities (and also where the Bush family campus is located).
During your stay, you can relax on one of the beaches, including Goose Rocks Beach, stroll the Parsons Way Shore Walk, visit the First Families Kennebunkport Museum and the Seashore Trolley Museum, as well as explore Dock Square. Can plant, go for a sail with pineapple. Catch or whale watch with First Chance Whale Watch.
