Cinepolis, Kerala’s first megaplex, reopens to the public after five years. Entertainment News

Cinépolis, Kochi’s first megaplex located in the Center Square Mall, reopened for the public on Monday after five years. The megaplex was closed in 2017 for functioning without a no-objection certificate from the fire and safety department.

Now, according to Cinépolis Kochi officials, megaplex theaters have reopened after obtaining all documents and ensuring all safety aspects.

According to reports, the company owned by the Mexican Film Exhibition Group has spent Rs 7 crore for the maintenance and renovation work of the megaplex.

‘Pappan’ directed by Joshi and starring Suresh Gopi and ‘Malaynkunju’ starring Fahadh Faasil were the first films after the theaters reopened on Monday.

Why people like Cinépolis over other theaters

The decision to close the Cinépolis in 2017 came as a major blow to movie buffs, who enjoyed the experience of visiting the megaplex for movies. So, what makes this place special from the rest of the theaters in the city?

There are 11 theaters in Cinépolis, three of which are in the VIP category. All the theaters were equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and in total could accommodate 1,500 people at a time.

Those who love to binge on something while watching movies in theatres, will surely vote for the popcorn sold here. Though a bit pricey, popcorns are available in various flavors and are definitely the best served here.

The megaplex also offers a number of high-standard amenities, including spacious lobbies and international ticket counters.
