Changes planned for downtown entertainment venue Columbia Business Report

A building on Columbia’s Main Street is undergoing major changes, which houses several businesses.

The first floor of 1624 Maine will see a change in tenants, according to an announcement from LTC Hospitality Services, a Columbia-based restaurant management group.

The first floor currently houses the Main Course, Soda City Beer Garden, and 1626 The Venue Piano Bar.

According to a spokesperson for LTC Hospitality, the main course will operate from 6 pm to midnight on Thursdays and Fridays and from 9 am to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays until August 29, when it will close its doors. A new restaurant is moving into the space now occupied by Main Course and should be announced in mid-August.

Live music that was scheduled on the Main Course will move to the venue next door, and the Soda City Beer Garden will remain open as usual.

A new business is also coming up on the fourth floor of the same building.

The Players Club Academy, an extension of the Players Club members-only indoor golf club on the third floor, will hold a grand opening event on August 18 from 6 to 10 pm. The academy will offer virtual golf and other activities for the general public.

“We are excited to bring interactive games, golf and other amenities to the general public, who can now enjoy the Players Club experience,” said Scott Olijs, Director of the Players Club and Academy. “The Academy will offer more than golf, including our virtual reality Oculus Rift system, Nintendo Switch and other entertainment for the whole family like classic arcade games.”
