How do you see your main character Edwina Sharma in Bridgeton?
Character Chandran: For me, Edwina is a very old age person. In the show, you actually see her transform from a young girl to a young lady. And she starts off quite naively, ready to be polite enough, thinking others know her better than themselves. Then by the end, you see that she is taking control of her life and destiny and coming into her own.
When you were first cast as Edwina, what was it like being on a show that was already such a huge international success?
It was both nerve-wracking and exciting. Obviously, nerve-wracking because it’s so well received and well loved, and you want to do it justice. But it’s also extremely exciting because you know, for exactly those reasons. I would say it was a combination of a lot of nervousness and excitement.

i always think bridgerton As a fantasy – a magical setting within which you can discuss real, serious things. The setting is extraordinary, but these guys are very trustworthy. I think especially with such female-centric shows where most of the characters are women, everyone can relate to someone, everyone has a mouthpiece. In many ways, the kind of real serious discussion we’re having almost becomes more delicious when it’s in this magical setting.

It’s really interesting to film the ball scene. It takes several days because they involve such complex set pieces. For the first day, it’s incredible because you get to see everyone in their fabulous costumes and this amazing setting, and you get to catch up with all the cast. But then after a while, it can actually get quite tiring. I’m glad it feels so magical on screen, but it’s behind the hard work put in by so many different people.
Was perfect dancing something you enjoyed? Was it difficult for you?
Oh, I like to dance. I absolutely love it! So that was one of the most exciting and fun parts because when will you get a chance to learn the waltz, right? I liked it and didn’t find it too hard. It was difficult to communicate while dancing, but dancing was just fun for me.

Please talk about the whole aspect of choosing Queen Charlotte’s most iconic debutante of the season, also known as “Diamond.”
I guess that’s a headline on how the diamonds equal this season [like] Being a Viscount, a Duke or Queen. It’s something that comes with expectations, pressure, and respect, like many different things. So I think you see how Anthony and Edwina clearly connect in a very different way than Kate and Anthony. But they connect because both of their lives are now dictated by a title given to them that they didn’t necessarily choose.
How did you and Simone Ashley find your chemistry for your sibling bond? As someone who loves my two older sisters, I know there are very strong bonds out there.
Absolutely. I think we got a lot of time to chat and really create a history for these two characters. and honestly, especially with Shelley Cone, which plays Mary, our mother, it came quite naturally; We were really lucky.
