Apollo Tires on Monday introduced two tire brands for electric passenger vehicles and two-wheelers, as India’s multinational tire manufacturing company is bullish about opportunities in domestic and international markets.

A report by news agency PTI said that Apollo Tires’ Emperion will cater to electric vehicles in the country like Tata Nexon, MG ZSE, Hyundai Kona in the hatchback, compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) and sedan segments.

On the other hand, WAV has been introduced for most of the high powered electric scooters including TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450.

Apollo Tires is also planning to develop EV tires for motorcycles in the next phase, PTI further reported.

Satish Sharma, President (Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa), Apollo Tires, told the news agency, “Our teams have invested years of research to understand the changing dynamics and requirements of vehicles in the EV space, which we are launching today. are.” monday.

Sharma said the company is already in talks with several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India to supply the aforementioned tires for electric vehicles and will target a lion’s share in the EV space in India.

Sharma also said, “There is every reason to believe that electric vehicles will expand rapidly and so will tires for such models.”

He also revealed that Apollo Tires, through its Vredestein brand, is looking to cater to the electric model in the European market.
