Anna Kendrick makes her directorial debut with The Dating Game

Hollywood actress Anna Kendrick is making her directorial debut with the true-life thriller The Dating Game. According to entertainment news outlet The Hollywood Reporter, the film is based on a blacklist script by Ian MacDonald and will feature the stranger-than-fiction story of Cheryl Bradshaw, a graduate candidate on the ’70s TV matchmaking show The Dating Game.

In the game, Bradshaw chose the funny and handsome Bachelor number one, Rodney Alcala. But her fairy-tale date takes a terrifying turn when The Bachelor abandons her fascinating side to reveal the truth: Alcala is actually a psychopathic serial killer. Known for films such as Pitch Perfect, A Simple Favour and Up in the Air, Kendrick will play the lead role of Bradshaw.

The 37-year-old actor is producing the project through his banner Let’s Go Again along with JD Lifshitz and Raphael Marguls of Boulderlight Pictures and Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment.

The Dating Game is currently in the pre-production stage and filming is expected to begin in October.
