10 out of 14 arrested for auto theft in Memphis

Memphis, Tenn. (WREG) — Seven teenagers and seven adults were arrested Friday on charges of auto theft, and one suspect was 10 years old, according to Memphis police.

The officers launched a one-day joint operation to suppress the crime. An 18-year-old suspect was also charged with evading arrest. The MPD did not reveal the names of the teens.

The police have also recovered four stolen vehicles and five pistols. Memphis Police data shows carjackings have increased by 45% since this time last year.
